St. Louis Rams Receive 1 Compensatory Pick, Mr. Irrelevant!

facebooktwitterreddit

Well the St. Louis Rams will be receiving an extra  7th round pick, 252nd overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. The League gave out 32 such picks on Monday based on free agent loses in 2007. The 252nd pick, and last of the draft will now belong to the Rams. Apparently the lost of Kevin Curtis was not viewed as a huge loss by the league or it’s formula for giving out these picks. Over the years, the last player selected in the annual NFL Draft has aquired the nickname of Mr. Irrelevant. Last year Mr. Irrelevant was Ramzee Robinson, CB Alabama selected by the Detroit Lions. Ramzee actuall was on the Lions roster, made his way into 6 games in 2007 and recorded 7 tackles.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.
