My Word Is Stronger Than Oak

Let’s recap on November 1st Steven Jackson went out of his way to state on his own website:

"“I want to let you all know that the leg is feeling good enough for me to go on Sunday. This is a big game for us against Arizona, and I’m going to give everything I’ve got to get us a win. So to be clear: I am playing. Be ready.”"

Well as we now know Jackson was able to only carry the ball seven times for seventeen yards against the Arizona Cardinals and since the quote the St. Louis Rams are 0-2 and have been outscored 81-16. This whole thing reminds me of one of my favorite movie quotes from Jerry Mcguire:

"Jerry Maguire: I’m still sort of moved by your “My word is stronger than oak” thing."

Jackson was injured on October 19th, and still today his thigh is stiff and sore. Well I am not going to question or call him out but every NFL player in week 11 is stiff and sore. The bigger question is how bad is this injury really, and why can’t the Rams diagnosis it better? Why did Jackson make his bold comments prior to the Arizona game and then go out pregame and tell the coaches he was ready to play? On the very first play of the game Jackson removed himself from the game because he didn’t feel comfortable with an outside run play call. Are you kidding me? He warmed up and said he could go. Did Jackson think the Rams were going to call 30 dive plays up the middle for him?

Well Steven the fans are still sort of moved by your “I am playing, be ready.” thing.
