Limbaugh and Checketts Make Offer For Rams

This morning, radio host Rush Limbaugh stated that he and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts were teaming up to make an offer for the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was not willing to discuss the exact terms of the offer, therefore it is unknown whether he is attempting to purchase 100% ownership or simply buy out Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez’s 60% share. Regardless of all of this, I still think it would be exciting to have an owner that would have some mutual interest in the team they own.

Another question this raises is whether or not this means the Rams would be staying in St. Louis. In their current contract, the Rams would be able to get out of their lease by 2014 if the Edwards Jones Dome is no longer considered to be in the top 25% of NFL stadiums. Well, rules require that if someone owns two professional sports teams, they must be in the same market, therefore if the Rams were to move out of St. Louis, Dave Checketts would no longer be allowed ownership. That, along with Limbaugh’s Missouri roots, has me believing that the Rams won’t be leaving St. Louis anytime soon.

Anyways, what do you guys think about having new ownership? I would love to start hearing my reader’s perspectives more often.
