We are less than a week away from the draft, and it feels like it just can’t get here fast enough. The NFL draft is probably my favorite weekend of the year, and it is especially exciting this year because of the position the Rams are in with the top pick. For those of you who are like me and enjoy a good NFL draft rumor, here’s the latest involving the Rams and the top pick. During his team’s pre-draft presser earlier Thursday, Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert told the media that his team has had talks with St. Louis about the number one overall pick. Heckert went on to say that he has talked with many different teams regarding their picks, but anyone who doesn’t believe the Browns would love to get Sam Bradford is kidding themselves. OK, so I’ve been waiting around for the scheduled decision from Rams minority owner Stan Kroenke, and I thought it was a bit strange that an announcement hadn’t been made yet by dinnertime. After I grabbed some food and dealt with Internet issues, I was blindsided by the news coming out of Kroenke’s camp. Several outlets, including the team’s official website, are reporting that Kroenke has decided to exercise his matching rights to try to purchase the remaining 60 percent share of the St. Louis Rams, making him full majority owner. While the Rams brass has been off looking at quarterback prospects over the last few days, it has been easy to forget that a pretty huge issue of who will own the team in the near future still remains up in the air. Shadid Khan is still working on getting league approval to purchase Chip Rosenbloom’s 60 percent share of the team, but he may be forced to pony up the entire 100 percent depending on the decision tomorrow by minority owner Stan Kroenke. Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy probably won’t be wearing a Rams jersey next season, but his private workout Thursday won’t be the reason. Rams coaches and front office members spent Thursday in Austin, Texas working out McCoy, and all reports coming out of the session have been positive. GM Billy Devaney said that McCoy showed “all the stuff you look for in a great quarterback”, and he also said that he made all the required throws and showed adequate arm strength. The Rams missed McCoy’s pro day, and they decided they wanted to get a thorough look at the prospect. [...]

  It wasn’t the easiest negotiation of all time, but the Rams have finally agreed to a deal with free agent linebacker Na’il Diggs. Diggs came to town several weeks ago for a visit, and the two sides had been close to a deal for some time. The news hit last night, and the team made the official announcement earlier today. It is looking like Diggs will take over at weak-side linebacker for Paris Lenon, but he is versatile enough to play the strong-side as well. One thing I love about the offseason in the NFL is that there are new rumors coming out almost every day. Now most of these rumors never even come close to seeing the light of day, but it is still fun and interesting to talk about them and discuss the positives and negatives of the potential move. There wasn’t much of a chance that Marc Bulger would be the starting quarterback for the Rams next season, but now we can be absolutely sure, as the team announced the release of the veteran QB earlier this afternoon. Bulger had worn out his welcome in St. Louis over the past few seasons, and both sides need to move forward after the struggles over the last few seasons. Happy Easter everyone! I was planning on taking the day off and celebrating the holiday, but that was until the monster trade news hit the airwaves. The Eagles have officially traded Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins in exchange for a second rounder (37th overall) this year and either a third or fourth next year. Obviously this isn’t Rams news, but St. Louis will be greatly affected by this deal.
