Memorial Day Update

First off, let me start by wishing everyone a happy Memorial Day. Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Now, moving onto business. The June 1 deadline for safety OJ Atogwe is fast approaching, and according to several sources, no decision has been made by the team as of yet. I’ve written on this before, but for those who don’t know, the team either has to offer him 110% of his 2009 salary or let him become an unrestricted free agent. The word is that the team would prefer to sign him to an extension rather than give him the increase, but still no word on how those talks are going. Brian Stull said on Twitter earlier today that the deadline is midnight tomorrow, so hopefully we get some news before then.

In other familiar news, Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network is reporting that the Rams are still in talks with RB Brian Westbrook. Westbrook is reportedly close to making a decision on his playing future, with the Rams being in the final three. I have written on this issue plenty in the past, so I’m not going to get into it again, but if I had to put money on it, I would bet he plays in Denver next season.

Things have been slowing down a bit lately, so just as a heads up, I’m going to begin profiling each one of our 2010 draft picks starting tomorrow. Since plenty has been written about Sam Bradford already, I will start with our last pick and work my way to the top. If you want to get to know some of the fresh, young faces, make sure to check the site over the next few weeks.
