Well the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts are the answer to your question. Football is played, coached, and copied in cycles. The spread offense is in vogue. The tops teams are doing damage with multiple receivers and from the spread offense so why not help Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson at the same time. Steven Jackson rarely has a lead blocker so having Bradford in the shotgun with Jackson to one side should not hurt his running ability while helping Bradford get a little more time and ability to read the field.

The NFL is changing. It's a passing league. Look at the top offensive teams in the league. They are in the shotgun a LOT of the time. Brees, Manning, Brady, Rivers . . . lots of shotgun.

If this is where Bradford is going to be (allegedly), why wedge him under center to cater to a RB who is just fine out of the shotgun, and catching passes, and pass protection?

I must also add that if he's having trouble learning the simple act of backpedaling while looking forward, he's not worth 50 million.
