Cut Day Is Upon Us

After four preseason games and countless hours of work on the practice field, the Rams will have to make the final roster cuts by this afternoon. The team already made some moves on Friday, as they released  WR Jordan Kent, TE Darcy Johnson, C Tim Mattran and S Brett Johnson. I’m a little surprised that the team let go of Kent so quickly, as I thought his special teams contributions might keep him on. Johnson never really stood a chance after the emergence of Illini Mike and Fendi Onobun at tight end, but he looked decent in the preseason. The other guys were late additions to the team and never really had a chance either.

The big moves will come by 5 p.m. today, and it will be very interesting to see who stays and who goes. I don’t really know what to make of Daniel Fells at this point. It looks like the release of Kent might signal that the team will keep four tight ends, but it’s hard to tell. The third quarterback spot looks to be Keith Null’s, but we will find out tomorrow.

As much as I would like to follow along with the cuts all day on Saturday, I will be unable to do so. My Saturday will be spent at the Cardinal game in a party box for a bachelor party, so I doubt I will be able to update anything here on the blog. Have no fear, however, as I will have all the info on Sunday. Everyone make sure to check back for all of the info Sunday and Monday.
