Big Win Recap
Ok folks, I have worked 28 hours in the past 2 days, so this is going to be short and sweet. Let’s take a look at how the Rams fared with my keys to the game against the Niners. Better The Second Time Around – The Niners might have been better the first time these teams played, but it was obvious who the better team was on Sunday. The Rams could have easily won this game by 20 or more, and the Niners had nothing in the way of offense all day. Their one offensive TD was a fluke mistake [...]
One Down, One To Go
The St. Louis Rams are one win away from being champions of the NFC West and hosting a playoff game. It’s still a little hard to believe, but it’s true. The Rams took down the San Francisco 49ers today by a score of 25-17, and will travel to Seattle next week for their final regular season game. Quick Thoughts: Much like every Rams game, today’s win wasn’t a work of art, but overall I was happy with how the team played today. The offense disappeared again in the second quarter, but they responded nicely in the second half. Sam Bradford [...]
All I Want For Christmas…
Is a big Rams’ victory on Sunday. First of all, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope Santa found everyone well, and I hope everyone had a great holiday. Now, on to business. The Rams will meet the 49ers at noon on Sunday in what has pretty much turned into a must-win if this team wants to see the postseason. Before I get to my keys to the game, let’s take a look at who will be suiting up for San Fran (and who won’t be). Troy Smith will start under center for the Niners instead [...]
Bruce Still Impacting St. Louis
I was lucky enough to have a chance to talk with St. Louis Rams’ great Isaac Bruce on Wednesday afternoon, and he is still doing his part for the St. Louis area. Bruce is working with Procter & Gamble (P&G) in support of its official NFL sponsorship, “Take it to the House” and the St. Louis-area semi-finalist in the program’s photo contest, Jessica Lefort. Lefort submitted a picture of how she and her football family celebrate NFL game day (photo is below) and has won: a $10,000 donation to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis in support of NFL [...]
Another Look At Misery
The one fallacy in waiting a day to objectively react to a game like yesterday’s is that you have to relive it again when you sit down to write the blog. I hadn’t thought much about the game all day, but now I feel my blood starting to boil again. So, with that being said, let’s try to get through this as painlessly as possible, shall we? Storm The Cassel – Matt Cassel didn’t have a monster day or anything (15-29, 184 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT), but he made a couple of big throws when his team needed them. [...]
Rams Fall To Chiefs
It was a rough day for the Rams, as they were defeated by the Chiefs in the Dome by a score of 27-13. Needless to say, it was a rough day for me and every other Rams fan as well. It got to a point in the second half that I stopped talking because I was so frustrated. This team had an amazing opportunity today, and they played like they didn’t want to take it. The penalties were ridiculous, and the offense just disappeared for about two and a half quarters. The defense tried to keep them in it, but [...]
It’s About That Time
The moment we have been anxiously waiting for all week is nearly here, and I for one can barely contain myself. The Rams and Chiefs will kick off at noon today from the Edward Jones Dome, so here are some keys and some things to watch for. Storm The Cassel – I am still pretty sure Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel will start under center unless something happens between now and then, and if he plays, we have to be all over him all day. He didn’t take a ton of reps in practice this week, and I guarantee he is [...]
Rams Still Relatively Healthy
The injury news is still good for the Rams, and it looks the team will be at nearly 100 percent going into Sunday’s huge matchup with the Chiefs. Ron Bartell, Jacob Bell, and Donnie Jones were all full participants in practice Friday and are all listed as probable. Kenneth Darby was limited in practice with a rib injury, and it looks like he will be out this weekend. Apparently he has some cracked ribs, so expect Keith Toston to be the third down back. David Nixon was limited in practice as well, but it looks like there’s still a possibility [...]
Rams Ready To Bounce Back
The Rams were back on the practice field Wednesday, and the injury report looks pretty good as of right now. Ron Bartell was on the field today and he did individual work and some of the team activities, so he looks like he will be able to go Sunday. That’s very good news, because it’s obvious we need him in the game. Jacob Bell was limited with a bruised knee, and he will be evaluated further as the week goes on. Ken Darby and Justin King were also limited today, but the fact that they participated at all is a [...]
Mistakes Cost The Rams
When I sat down and looked at the numbers from Sunday’s game, one thing really stood out to me: they were very similar. Sam Bradford threw for 231 yards, and Drew Brees threw for 221. The Rams rushed for 136 yards on 24 carries as a team, and the Saints rushed for 132 yards on 29 carries. Both teams turned the ball over three times, and both quarterback were intercepted twice. So, if the numbers are so similar, or even if favor of the Rams, how did we lose 31-13? For the answer to that, let’s look at my keys [...]
