2011 Mock Draft: #3 Buffalo

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

We are up to the third pick in our 2011 mock, so it’s time to see where the Buffalo Bills are going to go. The Bills showed the ability to score on offense last season, but their defense was just awful. It’s been tough to get a read on how the team feels about starting quarterback (and former Ram) Ryan Fitzpatrick, but he put up solid numbers in the 2010 season. I wouldn’t be shocked if they went quarterback with the pick, especially if Cam Newton (QB Auburn) is available, but the need is really on defense. Who They Should [...]

Mock Draft: #2 Denver

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

We’re up to the second pick in our 2011 mock draft, and that means that the Denver Broncos are on the clock. the Broncos have a new coach in John Fox, and he will try to get his tenure in Denver off to a good start with this draft. Denver has plenty of needs, as do most teams choosing this high, so there are many different ways they could go at number two overall. Who They Should Take: Patrick Peterson (CB LSU) is still the top player on my board, and he seemingly would be a nice fit as the [...]

2011 NFL Draft: Carolina

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since April is here and the draft is only a few short weeks away, I thought I would begin my mock draft. I’ll look at one team each day, going in order from 1 to 32, and I’ll let you know who I think they will pick and who I think they should pick. Feel free to comment in the section if you agree or disagree with what I have to say. Let’s start with the Panthers, who own the top pick. Who They Should Pick: I was going to go with Da’Quan Bowers (DE, Clemson) here originally, but his [...]

Antitrust Case ‘Under Advisement’

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m no legal expert, so bear with me here, but Judge Susan Nelson, the judge presiding over the antitrust lawsuit from the NFLPA, acted today when she decided to take the motion to end the lockout “under advisement.” According to sources, Judge Nelson plans to issue a ruling in a couple of weeks or so. Taking under advisement just means she is going to think about it for a couple of weeks, I guess. Hopefully the two sides will continue negotiations during that time, but if nothing happens then I guess we won’t know anything until the judge makes her [...]

Potential Draft Targets

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the latest Rams chat with beat writer Jim Thomas on STLtoday.com, several players were mentioned as guys the Rams may have had talks about heading into the 2011 NFL Draft. Some of these guys we have already mentioned here at Ramblin’ Fan, and some guys were new to the list. The list is made up of guys who will probably be available in the mid- to -late rounds, and there are some very intriguing names on there. For those of you who haven’t seen the chat, here are some of the names mentioned by Thomas: WR Jock Sanders, West [...]

Rams Interested in Rice

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pro Football Weekly reported earlier today that their “Rams sources” have indicated that the team has at least some interest in Vikings’ wide receiver Sidney Rice should he hit the free agent market. With free agency up in the air right now the Rams can’t do anything, but at least we know they are looking. Rice has shown the ability to be a true number-one talent, but he has been plagued by inconsistency and injury during his NFL career. He missed time last season with a hip injury, but he looked to be healthy at the end of the season. [...]

Liuget Heading To Draft As Well

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

It seems like just yesterday that we were talking about whether or not any of the incoming rookies would be attending the 2011 NFL Draft, and now the list just keeps growing. It was announced today that Illinois defensive lineman Corey Liuget will be in attendance at Radio City Music Hall at the end of this month to hear his name called by an NFL team. There are many people in the know who believe the Rams are extremely high on Liuget, and he is a very realistic option for us at 14. I haven’t exactly decided how I feel about the [...]

Clayton Likely Coming Back

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I don’t think it’s breaking news that the Rams are interested in bringing wide receiver Mark Clayton back for next season, but it sounds like it’s almost a sure thing that he will sign a deal when (IF) free agency kicks in after the lockout is resolved. According to Rams’ beat writer Jim Thomas, it is “all but a slam dunk” that Clayton will re-sign with the team. Once again, I don’t want to make assumptions on a situation like this, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Clayton and the Rams have at least some parameters of a [...]

Rams Feeling Green

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

As Pro Days continue to take place and individual workouts are scheduled, the Rams will be welcoming Hawaii running back Alex Green to town for a visit in the near future. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Green, he led the nation in yards per carry last season at 8.2 while piling up 1,199 yards, and he found the endzone 15 times. He impressed everyone at the combine with a 4.45 40-yard dash, and he showed excellent cutting ability and soft hands. Reports from Green’s Pro Day were overwhelmingly positive, as he apparently showed his ability to cut [...]
