Gilyard Wants Out ... Really

I find that very few things really surprise me when it comes to the NFL and the Rams anymore, but I have to admit that I was a bit floored when I heard the rumor today that Rams receiver Mardy Gilyard may have asked the team for a trade. I mean come on, Mardy. Really? The Rams gave Gilyard every chance in the world to earn playing time as a rookie last season, and he failed. He couldn’t manage to learn the playbook, and to be frank, if you get drafted in the third round by a team who had one of the worst wide receiver groups in the league after injury and you couldn’t manage to step on the field, it’s not the team’s fault. I have no idea where this guy gets off demanding a trade (if it’s true) after one season in which he didn’t do anything. I don’t know that this is true for sure, but his absence at the recent workouts lead me to believe it’s very probable.

I have no idea why anyone would want to give something up to get this guy. I mean, he has no track record that could influence anyone to give something up for him. If another team really wants him, they can get him when the Rams cut him, because his chances of making this team are slim and none. Good luck in your future endeavors,
