Thanks to a fan vote at the team’s website, the Rams have determined that they will wear their throwback uniforms on October 30 against the New Orleans Saints. The throwbacks will be the blue and yellows from the Greatest Show On Turf days, so assuming we have a 2011 season, we can look forward to that date. Personally, I wish the team would break out the really old-school blue and white combo, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to be happening this season. From what I have been told in the past, I believe a team is only allowed one throwback jersey, but I don’t have 100% confirmation on that. Either way, we know the team will take on the Saints in the blue and yellows and they are expected to wear those uni’s one more time during the season on a week that has yet to be determined.
I like the throwbacks, and I especially like the fact that we are wearing them against the Saints. For those of you new to the St. Louis Rams, you may not know about the intense rivalry between the Rams and Saints that was at its peak not too long ago. The two teams used to be in the same division, and some of my most fond memories as a young Rams fan included going to see the Saints and Rams battle it out once a year. The rivalry is what really made me fall in love with professional football and Rams football, so although the franchises are completely different now compared to what they were, and most of the players are gone from those teams, I still love it when the Saints come to town.
