Gilyard At Rams Workouts
It’s been a few days, but my fever and body aches have officially subsided and the flu seems to be almost gone. I didn’t even know you could get the flu in the summer, but apparently that virus does not discriminate. With that being said, I thought I should give credit to a player who has taken plenty of heat on this site and many others over the past year or so. According to his Twitter page (@MardyGilyard), Rams wide receiver Mardy Gilyard worked out with teammates at the recent workout session in Arizona. Now, I have been highly critical [...]
SJ39 Is 38th Best Player In NFL
First of all, I want to preface this post with a couple of points before I get going. I am extremely sick, and I have been for about two days, so this is going to be short. Second, I want to be honest about the fact that I have not watched one second of the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players show. It’s not that I have something against it, but I just know that the rankings are largely going to be biased and mostly B.S. With that being said, Rams running back Steven Jackson checked in at number 38. I [...]
Rams Staying In Rams Park?
It has been discussed here before that the Rams, and more specifically head coach Steve Spagnuolo, would like to move training camp out of St. Louis and Rams Park to an outside location. The two places being mentioned have been Carbondale, IL on the campus of SIUC and Rolla, MO on the campus of Missouri Science and Tech, but it would appear that the lockout is throwing a wrench in those plans. According to a report in the Post Dispatch, time is running out for the team to come to an agreement with one of these places, and the team [...]
My Take On Rams-LA
Tiffany did a nice post earlier today about the report that AEG has talked with five NFL teams about purchase and relocation to Los Angeles, so I thought I’d weigh in on the matter as well. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy when I saw this report out there earlier today, but being unhappy and being worried are two totally different things. I mean, it’s not like there’s no chance the Rams move back to LA, but I really think the chances are slim. First of all, as far as NFL franchises in trouble go, the Rams certainly aren’t the [...]
Moving Back? Nope
I usually check nfl.com and saw something interesting. A man name Tim Leiweke has talked to 5 different teams. About taking more than 50% of the share and moving them to L.A. He is a billionaire so it could be possible. The thing that caught my eye was one of the teams were the St. Louis Rams. That’s very surprising to me because we are a young team growing and we just got to St. Louis about 17 years ago. It was told that Leiweke has talked to Jacksonville, St. Louis, Oakland, San Diego, and Minnesota. For the [...]
Is Lockout Almost Over?
For those of you who are keeping close tabs on this whole NFL/Lockout business, you are well aware of the drama from Thursday night. For those of you that aren’t, a website for a newspaper in the Northeast posted a story that cited a source that said the lockout is “almost over.” According to the report from the Eagle Tribune in North Andover, MA, “owners and players were close to an agreement today to end the lockout.” Moving on, the story says “Some coaches and players have been contacted about returning to work probably early next week and possibly as [...]
Confidential Meetings Wrap Up
The positive vibe coming from New York on the lockout front continued on this week, as the players and owners wrapped up their “confidential” meetings today. Apparently, these aren’t the “secret” meetings anymore since everyone knows about them, so now they are being referred to as “confidential”. Since the meetings are “confidential”, we don’t know how much progress was actually made, but everyone in the know seems to think things are going well. I think the best news to come out of this is that the attorneys for both sides were not present. Obviously, lawyers are necessary in litigation like [...]
More Rams Workouts Planned
The lockout is still raging on, but that’s not stopping the Rams from minicamp. Middle Linebacker James Laurinaitis told the NFL Network today that the players are getting together this week for a player-run minicamp at an undisclosed location in Arizona. According to Laurinaitis, the camp will take place Thursday through Sunday, and it sounds like this one will be much like the last in St. Louis, with 7-on-7 work, film study, workouts, and classroom work. It sounds like skill-position players, linebackers and defensive backs will be there, so it sounds like plenty of work will be done. As far [...]
Sidney Rice or Plaxico; Both?
Sorry I haven’t been posting in a while, but the lockout has nothing for me to talk about. Since the release of Plaxico Burress, I’ve been wondering which wide receiver we should sign. Sidney or Plaxico? Many are saying they want Plaxico and some say Sidney. The Rams drafting two wide receivers is making things harder. They could be the next big things but we need help now. We can wait; well we have waited too long for the playoffs. Since 2004 was the last time we were there. Now which one I like better is the thing and [...]
More Plax Talk
I know the Plaxico Burress talk is getting a little old, but news is pretty thin these days with the lockout going on, Plax got out of jail today, so obviously discussions about where he will end up have been ramped up. While the Philadelphia Eagles continue to be the odds-on favories to land the former Giants wide receiver, the Rams are still being mentioned in the same sentence. In fact, a Rams player said today on Sirius Radio that he “really wants” Plaxico to join he Rams this season. That player is none other than Burress’ former Giants teammate [...]
