Pro Football Weekly is pretty good about giving us accurate rumors and inside information, and they had some more discussion of the Rams backup running back situation over the weekend. Apparently, Darren Sproles is still the guy the people in the front office would prefer. Since we already knew that, I thought the most interesting part of the article was another name mentioned that I haven’t heard much about. According to the article, Houston Texans’ running back Steve Slaton has also become an option for the Rams.
Slaton is kind of an interesting case. He had a very nice rookie season a few years ago, but he hasn’t done much since and he lost his starting job in Houston to Arian Foster. Slaton would be a nice change-of-pace back, and I think he probably still has some good years left. I wouldn’t mind having him on our team, but he is under contract with Houston, meaning we would have to trade for him. So, the question is: Would Slaton be worth giving up a draft pick? I would much rather see the Rams pay Sproles or, if they are going to give up picks, go after Reggie Bush before Slaton. It sounds like the team
