Ok I am tired of all the receiver talk – we got good young WRs on the roster, lets see what they got before we go throw wads of cash at one guy. Whew! Feels good to get that off my chest.
A more realistic acquisition can be made at outside linebacker. Several source have linked the Rams to Scott Shanle of the Saints, VIkings’ Ben Leber, Houston’s Zac Diles, and Carolina’s Thomas Davis.
Davis is the most intriguing option out of all of the players mentioned above. When healthy, Davis can be a beast on the field – his speed is more than an asset in coverage. Injuries have plagued Davis though, having multiple ACL injuries in the past couple of years. All this means, however, is that he can come cheap, making him a low risk-high reward. Of coarse, Carolina needs to release him first.
One OLB that I have been advocating for is Oakland’s Thomas Howard. Howard is reliable in coverage and more than willing in the running game. Plus, Howard has the size for the weak and strongside – he is 6’3 240 lbs. Like Davis, Howard too will need to be released first and since he seems like the odd-man out in the Black Hole.
In a perfect world, the Rams would get both Davis and Howard to man the outside ‘backers positions.
