As good as Bradford and the passing game was, the running game left plenty to be desired. Now, in defense of the offense, Steven Jackson only had 1 carry on the day. However, the new additions of Cadillac Williams and Jerious Norwood combined for just 23 yards on 9 carries. I wouldn’t be too concerned about these numbers, because both players are still very new to the offense and haven’t gotten much action yet. I expect both to improve steadily as the preseason wears on, so let’s hold off on throwing them under the bus just yet.
As far as the defense goes, I thought they looked pretty solid, especially early on in the scrimmage. You could tell they were well ahead of the offense as far as comfort level goes. That was to be expected, but overall I was pretty happy with both sides of the ball.
