Hope Not But Bye Clayton
Well we should get T.O now because Mark Clayton may be heading to New England. We need a a deep threat/bigger receiver. DX is one of those but he is too young and not as talented as T.O. I am also happy that Donnie is back at practice and will start this week. Which they still are limiting him so he won’t hurt his knee again….Back to Mark Clayton. He made 300 yards in 4 games and being the 4th best QB-WR duo in the NFL, with Bradford. Why isn’t trying to return to the Rams? Well he did but [...]
WR Donnie Avery Back in Practice
As noted before, my niche when it comes to football is the receiver position. I know it pretty well. I know what qualities make a good player at the position. This guy – Donnie Avery – as those qualities. So when I heard he was participating in practice today, I was glad; this dude can finally showcase what he is all about! There have been many people – who are not really qualified, by the way – that have written Avery off. That is downright ridiculous! In his two seasons played (he was on IR last year), Avery averaged over [...]
Update on Salary Cap
So evidently, there is conflicting reports on the status of the Rams’ salary cap. Whereas Jason La Canfora has the Rams $800k over, Pro Football Talk has the Rams $270k under. Regardless of which report is true, the suggestions made on the earlier post still stand: players must be cut. And lets remember, the team is pretty thin at the corner spot. An addition or two at the position isn’t out of the equation.
Roster Moves on the Horizon?
According to some sources – Jason La Canfora – the Rams are about $800,000 above the salary cap. In perspective, it is understandable as to why the Rams are over the cap; the team did sign 12 free agents. The question is, what are they going to do to get back under? The obvious answer is that they will release players, but who? Linebacker is a spot that will have to sort out some people. With the additions of Brady Popinga to the strongside position, some wonder if incumbent Na’il Diggs’ time is up. Bryan Kehl is another LB that [...]
Rams Impressive In Game One
Sorry for the delay in post folks, but I’m in Las Vegas for the week and I highly underestimated how difficult it would be to find time to get to a computer. So, I don’t think we could have hoped for much more from the Rams in preseason game one against the Colts. As far as preseason games go, that’s about as good as I have seen the Rams play in years. The team looked organized, prepared, and confident despite the late start due to the lockout. I don’t put much stock in preseason games and final scores, but as [...]
Impressions From Rams-Colts
Lance. Kendricks. Whoa. This guy is going to be a big part of this offense this year. I was very interested in what he was going to show us last night, after hearing about his prowess on the practice field thus far, and let’s just say he didn’t disappoint. He had 5 catches for 47 yards, including an impressive TD in which he ran right over Jerraud Powers and Melvin Bullitt; that was impressive. Honestly, as good as he was tonight, he could have been even better, as he dropped a ball that was catchable though it was thrown slightly [...]
Rams Shorthanded Vs. Colts
The Rams are finally going to be taking to the field for an official game for the first time in 2011 on Saturday night when they host the Indianapolis Colts at the Edward Jones Dome, but they will be doing so without some key members of the team. The injury list for Saturday’s game is long, which is bad news, but for the most part most of the injuries look fairly minor, with that being the good news. Here’s the injury list: linebacker James Laurinaitis, cornerback Ron Bartell (thigh), cornerbacks Al Harris (knee), Jerome Murphy (ankle), Marquis Johnson (knee) and [...]
Rams Sign Leber, Officially
I think we all knew it was going to happen, but the St. Louis Rams made it official on Thursday with the signing of linebacker Ben Leber to a one-year deal. The Leber signing is going to make for a very interesting position battle at linebacker after the signings of Zac Diles and Brady Poppinga. It’s interesting to note that the reported $1.25 million deal is exactly what Na’il Diggs is set to make this season. That doesn’t mean anything necessarily, but it’s just an interesting note. For those of you who won’t be able to make it to the [...]
Rams’ Success Starts with D
For Rams’ fans, offense is in their blood. They’re constantly reminded of Holt and Bruce stretching the field, Faulk splitting defenses and Warner manning an unstoppable aerial attack. The Greatest Show on Turf was an unforgettable period of time in St. Louis Rams history. The city hopes to see a restoration of the The Show, but this year, it all comes down to defense. With the sexy hire of Josh McDaniels and Sam Bradford emerging as one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, it’s easy to forget how successful the Rams defense was last year. Chris Long emerged [...]
Lance Kendricks a draft sleeper?
Football kicks off under an hour from this post (6:28 PM). Last year best draft sleeper was Mike Williams WR and his teamate LaGarrette Blount. The year before that was Jamall Charles by far, Before that Desean Jackson. The best sleeper of all time was Tom Brady; not Joe because he was in third round. Which was a high round back in the 80’s. 6th round today is very low. Now who will be this year’s sleeper. We might have that sleeper this year because of his performance at pratice. He can line up as a wide out, can play [...]
