The potential move of our Rams hit the first major date on the calendar Wednesday, as the CVC deadline for their plan to upgrade the Dome came and went. The CVC has been extremely tight-lipped about the deal, but now that it has been submitted the team has until March 1 to make their decision on whether or not to accept it.
This process is in the very early stages, so don’t expect any big news any time soon. It will be interesting to see what the proposition details are exactly, but there’s no way they will put the Dome in the first tier of NFL stadiums. Both sides are going to have to get creative, and hopefully the CVC already has some ideas on how to do that.
We still haven’t heard much from Stan Kroenke on this whole issue, and I don’t expect a statement from him to come in the near future. The fact of the matter is, Rams fans are going to have to live with this cloud over our heads for a few years. As much as we would all love Kroenke to come out and say that the team is staying, it isn’t going to happen. The smart business move is to keep the leverage, and Kroenke isn’t unimaginably wealthy by being stupid.
