It’s a pretty quiet weekend leading up to the preseason battle between the Rams and the ‘Boys. However, I’ve got your pregame reading right here. Let’s take it to the west…
John Skelton’s brother made it through Arizona’s first round of cuts…
Yeah! The Fordham brothers are still alive after the Arizona Cardinals cut, waived/injured and injured reserved 15 players to get the team from 90 players down to 75 after the first wave of mandatory cuts. Stephen Skelton, a 2011 UDFA tight end, still has a shot at making the final 53-man roster; however, he still has to perform well in the final preseason game because having John Skelton as the reference he used on his job application is not merely enough to warrant the roster spot.
Miss Missouri expects the Rams to win 24 games this season…
Yes, Miss Missouri is predicting that the Rams will win all four preseason games, all sixteen regular season games and all playoff/Super Bowl games. Well, if you didn’t see the whup-ass the Colts handed the Rams, I’ve got news for you…the Rams are not going 24-0 this season because they already have a L in the L column.
Terrell.O…
Well, the Bleacher Report defecated all over the Internet again. This writer is claiming that Terrell Owens is going to be cut from the Seahawks because Owens is being the diva wide receiver that the NFL has grown to known for yet another season. But never mind the fact that T.O. is competing for a spot that is generally given to a special teams ace and not a broken down pass catcher. I swear, you guys, it’s easy to figure out. Diva T.O. isn’t the reason T.O. is going to be cut. Non-playing special teams T.O. is why T.O is going to be cut—unless he beats out Braylon Edwards for the number four depth chart spot at wide out.
Gore, James, Jacobs and Dixon? Maybe not…
Running back Anthony Dixon, of FX’s The League fame, is apparently fighting for a roster spot with the Niners club. Dixon is in a battle for the third running back spot with Brandon Jacobs and if I were Jim Harbaugh, I’d keep Dixon on the roster because, as we all know from watching the NFC East throughout the years, Jacobs is going to break down and be pretty much next to useless…or as useless as he can get for a NFL team. Sure, Jacobs will get a touchdown now and again, but I’d rather have Dixon in his third year as depth than Jacobs as a fat bowling ball who will be out by week four of the regular season.
