Starting this season, the official trade deadline will be moved from the Tuesday following Week 6 of the regular season to Week 8, according to NFL.com’s Albert Breer.
Breer also added that teams will now be allowed to bring on player back to the active roster from injured reserve during the regular season. However, starting next season, players who are to be brought back from IR must be “designated for return” at the time that they are placed on the IR list.
What does this mean for Rams fans? The Rams can dump players to teams trying to make a run for the playoffs even later than previous years should St. Louis be struggling early in the season OR they could do the opposite should they be successful early in the season. Also, the Rams will be able to bring back any injured player the team “designates for return” if the team feels that said player could provide an added benefit.
