Rams lose two offensive linemen in Sunday bout with Detroit Lions

by Breaking News

During Sunday’s 27-23 loss to the Detroit Lions, the St. Louis Rams lost two key offensive linemen.

Center Scott Wells was unable to return from halftime after suffering a foot injury and was replaced by Robert Turner. Turner started at left guard, but as soon as he replaced Wells, the Rams placed rookie Rok Watkins at left guard to fill the void.

The bigger injury, however, was to left tackle Rodger Saffold who went down with 9:45 remaining in the 4th quarter with what appeared to be a neck injury. He had to be carted off of the field. According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the severity of his injury is unknown. Newly acquired tackle Wayne Hunter eventually replaced Saffold and played decent, as a replacement, leading up to the end of the game.
