Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Fans Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

After getting destroyed last night by the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football, most in Rams Nation would likely prefer a “change of scenery” for at least 24 hours. With that in mind, I figured that this would be a prime opportunity to let all the Ramblin’ Fan viewers out there know about a special “opportunity” that our site has been allotted…

Through the “Verizon Fan Voices” program, a handful of sports bloggers from across the Midwest were chosen to test out one of Verizon’s top devices for the entirety of the NFL season. I was given a Droid MAXX, bunched with an unlimited data plan and, most importantly, access to the NFL Mobile app, which streams NFL Network and NFL RedZone, as well as Thursday Night, Sunday Night, and Monday Night Football games.

Throughout the season, you will be seeing a handful of posts about the device, it’s “services,” and my experiences with the phone. To make things clear, these posts will be my honest opinion on the device, for better or for worse.

My initial impression of the phone is… AWESOME! The screen is significantly larger than my iPhone 5, and with a much more vibrant display. The camera is a meteoric upgrade, with “shake-to-camera” functionality, and single-hand zooming controls that allows you to operate all aspects of the camera without needing to use both hands. Lastly, and most importantly, the battery life is spectacular. Between YouTube, updating Ramblin’ Fan’s website, Twitter, and my daily regiment of sports podcasts, I have been notorious for killing my phone within 5 hours of waking up. Even with significant effort to drain the battery, I couldn’t get the bar below 35% with a full days’ use. Impressive…

Those are my initial reactions, but stay tuned for more updates! If you have any specific questions about the phone, feel free to leave a comment, or shoot me a message on Twitter at @nkearns12!
