Deacon Jones Award Update: Week 9

Unlike the past two weeks, not much changed in the sack standings this week. The top players in the standings all failed to record a sack which provided little change in the rankings. Here are the standings for the Deacon Jones Award after week nine.

1. IND DE Robert Mathis-11.5

T2. BUF DE Mario Williams-11.0

T2. KC LB Justin Houston- 11.0

4. STL DE Robert Quinn-10.0

T5. BAL LB Terrell Suggs- 9.0

T5. KC LB Tamba Hali- 9.0

7. NE DE Chandler Jones- 8.5

8. NYJ DL Muhammad Wilkerson- 8.0

T9. DAL DE Jason Hatcher- 7.0

T9. CAR DE Charles Johnson- 7.0

Like I said, not much change from last week at the top, however Charles Johnson found his way in the top ten and Shaun Phillips and Ryan Kerrigan dropped out. This was one week when Quinn really could have pushed for the top spot, and with the Rams playing the Colts who have allowed the ninth least amount of sacks this season, taking over the lead this week doesn’t seem likely. With the bye week coming up, Quinn will have to make some noise against the Colts if he wants to stay in the race for the Deacon Jones award.
