Ever since the Rams acquitted the number two overall pick from Washington, it has been speculated that they would most certainly try to trade out of it. One of the teams that would make the most sense to trade with is Cleveland. The Browns need a quarterback and the Rams can trade back to number four overall and still get one of the elite players in the draft.
On Sunday cbs.com reported that the Browns may be looking to trade up to make sure they get a certain quarterback named known as Johnny Football:
…they are willing to trade up to land Johnny Manziel in the draft if need be, sources said, and have an owner, Jimmy Haslam, who is committed to spending their abundant cap space to try to win quickly.”
A big trade like this would completely change the draft for the St. Louis Rams. The Rams would more than likely get Cleveland’s other number one pick as well as a handful of others in the 2014 draft such as a second or third round pick and a fifth rounder. A 2015 pick could be akin for too much and would be unlikely. However, a draft like that and the Rams could go from being mediocre to playoff contender.
For the Rams, it only takes one team to fall in love with a quarterback and willing to do anything to get that quarterback. It’s still early, but as of right now it looks like that team is the Cleveland Browns and that quarterback is Johnny Manziel.
