Rams Expected To Hire Gregg Williams

It is a busy day today in Rams nation. Within an hour of firing defensive coordinator Tim Walton the Rams are now expected to hire the man who Jeff Fisher originally brought with him to St. Louis, Gregg Williams.

Rams fans know that nothing is official until it’s official, but it looks like this will more than likely become official status.

Gregg Williams came with Jeff Fisher to St. Louis, but then was suspended after the bounty gate scandal was uncovered in New Orleans, forcing the Rams to go in another direction.

Williams was reinstated last season and was brought in as a senior assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans defense. With the coaching change in Tennessee and Williams no longer being under contract, it was unlikely that the Titans would bring him back.

Williams spent time with Fisher in Tennessee before leaving to go to New Orleans, and it looks like the two will once again be brought together.

Jeff Fisher’s wishes have came true and we will finally get to see out the vision that Fisher had for this team.

i love this, the defense did pretty well in spite of walton IMO, but now can we get a creative OC, was shotty really fishers guy all along??

We’ll he adjusted to what Fisher like on a preferred offense which practically save his job.. For now. But the Gregg Williams signing only shows that Fisher want to focus on being a head coach and not worry about his defense.

i agree the first year with defense by committee fisher had to keep a close eye on things and then he hired walton who also needed to be watched now he can let williams go and if shotty can figure it out fisher will be happy if not my guess is shotty will not be our OC in 2015. to be honest im not so sure he may have hoped shotty got the job at vandy so he didnt have to fire him either way my guess is the rams have a new OC before the 2015 season starts and maybe even before the 2014 season.

Jeff Fisher was “secretly” please that Brian Schottenheimer remained the OC as they can have a sense of continuity and possibly improve the offense more in the off-season. The Formula of using the run to set up the pass and having a tough defense was put in display in the SuperBowl and I believe the Rams are a few key pieces missing of having a similar roster.

Adding an Earl Thomas type of a player (maybe Ha Ha Clinton-Dix) and possibly signing Alteraun Verner would solidify the secondary. Drafting a athletic DT like Ra’shede Hageman can potential help stop the run.

well cesar fisher got his wish if you are right! the biggest change i would like to see is if we really shore up the defensive side of the ball throw the ball 50 yards down field on 3rd down trust the defense if they intercept it so what its like a punt, if we catch it its 50 yards or more get a pass interference same thing 40-50 yards and if its incomplete use our pro bowl punter that will loosen up the middle of the field and then the rub routes and the intermediate routes and the screen game will all open up. dont worry about stats lets worry about winning!! GO RAMS!!

If Gregg Williams is indeed the new DC, he prefers the press coverage over soft coverage. Also Williams likes to Blitz most of the time so we are gonna expect some of the best blitzing LB’s and CB’s. Shane Skov of Stanford and Jeremiah Attaochu of Georgia Tech would be my bet in the 3rd or 4th rounds.

williams likes hybrid safeties and hybrid lbs so this actually brings barr back into the conversation with his ability to blitz the qb. although im not sure fish and snead will let gregg have all the early picks of course if you saw the super bowl defense beat offense!! big time!!

dont think skov will fall past the 2nd round we shall see !!

This seals the deal of Rams picking Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix because Gregg Williams prefers hybrid safeties. If not Clinton-Dix FSU’s Terrence Brook comes next. CB Alteraun Verner has a possibility of signing with the Rams too.
