Fan Reaction To Gregg Williams Hiring

If you did not know, the St. Louis Rams announced Wednesday that Tim Walton will dismissed of his duties as defensive coordinator and  Former Titans and Saints defensive coordinator would be hired to the same position.

Some of our fans looked to Twitter and voiced what they thought of the team’s new addition:

The overall consensus is that Rams nation seems pretty happy with the new hire as it is who Fisher wanted in the first place. Many however, are still unhappy that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has a job.

Schottenheimer may have a job for now, but if Bradford and the offense don’t produce next season, that definitely could be subject to change.

love the hire now fisher can concentrate on getting the offense going oh and i wouldnt be surprised if fisher lets shotty go in the next week or so. he probably was hoping he would get the vandy job!! id love to see a new OC in place before the offseason college workouts.

Just have to remember that Fisher DID say that he didn’t anticipate any coaching changes a couple of weeks ago and I do believe he meant it at the time. Had Williams not come available I believe Walton is still with the Rams. As much as I would like the Rams to get a new OC, I don’t think it will happen.

i wasn’t one of the guys calling fisher a liar he said he did not anticipate any changes, he had an opportunity when the titans changed staffs and he had to pull the trigger. as far as the anticipation thing what if a great fit at OC suddenly popped up would fisher react?? but i truly think he hoped shotty would get the vandy job to take away the need to explain a change at the position.

If Gregg Williams was not available, Fisher’s other option would have been Jerry Gray which has done a good job as a DC and has the same defensive philosophy as Willams and Fisher and also Gray is a former Rams DB.

I doubt Fisher would let go Schotty unless he could find an OC who knows the current offensive system. He doesn’t want to risk putting Sam Bradford into another offensive scheme change and struggle.

i agree with you there, i have said all along to keep the playbook just get a new OC!!

If that’s the case the only new OC who can use the current playbook will only be Frank Cignetti Jr (Rams current QB coach). Hiring another OC will likely change some of scheme and the terminology unless he’s under the same coaching tree with Brian Schottenheimer.

maybe we could keep shotty and have someone else call the plays the system isn’t faulty just the playcalling IMO

Nah, we don’t want to like Dallas with 2 Offensive Coordinators with Bill Calahan as the official OC and Scott Linehan as the offensive “playcaller”
