Early yesterday morning, CBS’s Jason LaCanfora reported on CBSsports.com that the Rams had no intention of extending their quarterback this offseason. LaCanfora’s report was contradictory to a midseason report in which Les Snead said that the Rams would be open to extending Bradford past the 2015 season.

LaCanfora then later changed his report saying that an extension would be surprising, not completely ruling out the scenario.

A lot has changed since that midseason report. Bradford is coming off of a torn ACL and is entering the biggest boom or bust year of any player in the league. Snead and Fisher have shown their support of Bradford, but another disappoint season and there is no doubt that the Rams will look to go in a different direction next season if not draft Bradford’s replacement this offseason.

LaCanfora’s report seems a little shaky for a usually reliable source. However, it would make sense for the Rams to hold off on extending Bradford. It is still no guarantee that Bradford is the guy, if the Rams get stuck on the Sam Bradford train once again without any proof that he is the guy, the Rams could get themselves in a sticky situation if it backfires.

Holding off on extending Bradford seems like the more logical thing for Snead and the Rams to do, but definitely don’t rule it completely out of the picture.
