St. Louis Rams Halftime Pep-Talk: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

facebooktwitterreddit

We are halfway through the books at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay Florida. We have been through a lightning delay in the first half, but despite the drama the St. Louis Rams lead 10-7 after a blocked punt by T.J. McDonald. Here is our halftime pep talk and things to watch for in the second half

  • The Defense started off slow as Bobby Rainey has nine carries for 53 yards and have committed penalties at inopportune moments. They finally got it going toward the end of the half, but they will need to play with more intensity in the second half.
  • The Rams offense has actually played impressively in the first half. Despite falling down 7-0 early, they marched right down the field to tie it up. Then after being pinned down at the 2-yard line, the Rams offense moved the ball to gain some field position.
  • Austin Davis has played well in the first half after making his first career start. Davis complete his first five passes for 47 yards and has really stood tall in the pocket.  He hasn’t made any glaring mistakes and if he continues to play like he has, the Rams will have a chance to win the game which is what you would want.

MVP: Rodney McLeod

After the defense was once again struggling, Rodney McLeod intercepted Josh McCown inside the Buccaneers red zone. Had it not been for that turnover, the Rams would not be leading 10-7 right now, instead they would probably be trailing.

LVP: Brian Schottenheimer

Time and time again Brian Schottenheimer makes questionable call after questionable call. This afternoon against the Buccaneers, that has not changed as he went back to running Tavon Austin up the middle after he gained 18 on an end-around and then called a pass play on 3rd and one deep in the Rams’ territory.

Stat To Flip: 1/4

The Rams have only converted one third down the entire first half on offense. Although the Rams lead 10-7, the Rams are going to have to find some success on third down in the second half.

What To Watch In Half Two

Watch for the Rams to run the ball and run the ball often, I wouldnt even be surprised if the Rams take a shot down the field to Britt or Quick on a play action of they are able to get something going on the ground. This has been a pretty close game throughout the first half and we should expect an exciting finish.
