St. Louis Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles Five Keys To Victory

The St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles will go head to head in a highly anticipated game between two NFC teams. The St. Louis Rams are coming off of their bye week while the Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a long road trip and tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Eagles are coming into the game as strong seven point favorites, but that doesn’t mean the Rams won’t make a push and can’t win this game, but to do that they will have to do a few key things. Here are out five keys to victory for the St. Louis Rams to beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

1. Shut Down Shady

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has struggled through the first quarter of the season and you can bet he is well aware that the St. Louis Rams have the 30th ranked run defense in the NFL. When the Rams shut down the run and control the line of scrimmage on defense, they do eel, but when they don’t, things don’t go well for the Rams.

The Rams have allowed 155 yards per game throughout their first three games, and McCoy puts up those kind of numbers, the Rams will be in a world of trouble. The Eagles offense is centered around McCoy, the Rams must take him away.

2. Watch Out for the Screens

The Philadelphia Eagles run a lot of screen plays or plays with quick throws from quarterback Nick Foles. With running backs Darren Sproles and McCoy, the Eagle pull this off really well and are very dangerous if you allow them to beat you with them. defensive ends Robert Quinn and William Hayes are going to have to keep a close eye on both of those guys to make sure they don’t sneak out of the backfield for a big gain.

3. Austin Davis Must Play Lights Out

Jeff Fisher named Austin Davis the starting quarterback at the beginning of the week and for good reason. The young quarterback should very well be 2-0. The Eagles don’t have a very strong secondary, and the Rams will have to take advantage. This could be another high scoring game of the Rams, and Davis will need to be sharp if the Rams want to keep up.

4. Win The Turnover Battle

This one is kind of obvious, but winning the turnover battle against the Eagles is especially important. The Eagles have a dynamic offense that can score in bunches, turning the ball over is lethal against the Eagles.  the Rams will need to limit those possessions and maybe steal a possession to win this game. The Rams are going to have to win the turnover battle if they want to win this game.

5. Get Zac Stacy Going

As mentioned earlier, the Eagles secondary is not very good and that can be taken advantage of. However, the Rams are going to need to run the ball effectively as well. The Rams must use the run to set up the pass. If Zac Stacy can have a good game, that will set up the offense for Austin Davis in the pass game. It all starts up front however, the Rams must win the battle up front.

This is going to be an uphill battle for the Rams. The Eagles are one of the better teams in the NFC and have one of the best offenses in football. However, if they do these five things, the Rams will give themselves a good chance of pulling off the upset.
