McShay Gives Rams Questionable Player In Latest Mock Draft

Two experts that many fans and analysts really pay attention to throughout the draft season are ESPN’s Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. Up until the draft, both experts will have mock draft after mock draft making slight changes as stocks rise and fall.

McShay just came out with his second mock draft of the season and he gave the Rams a questionable player with the tenth overall pick.

With the tenth overall pick, McShay gave the Rams West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White. McShay had this to say about the pick:

"Analysis: The Rams’ biggest need is at QB, but there’s no way for them to address that position in this scenario. (Remember, we don’t project trades in these mock drafts, and there’s a big drop-off in this year’s QB class after Winston and Mariota.) The next-biggest need is O-line, but the only prospect worth drafting this high is Stanford’s Andrus Peat, and he’s a pure left tackle who doesn’t fit the Rams’ physical approach all that well. So, wide receiver makes the most sense here, and White is a complete player with good size and outstanding ball skills. He’d immediately upgrade a group that features several question marks and no No. 1 receiver."

If the Rams are left in this situation it would not be surprising for them to trade back to try and get an offensive lineman or cornerback. It goes without saying that unless the Rams can’t re-sign Kenny Britt, which is highly unlikely, they would not go wide receiver.

With Scherff off the board, trading back makes the most sense. What needs to be remembered is that Brian Quick, although coming off of an injury, was the Rams number one receiver last season and excelled in that role.

This isn’t even to mention that the Rams just drafted Tavon Austin in the top ten two years ago. By drafting White, you are basically giving up on one of those two players that you have been working to develop, one of which has.

The only way I could possibly seeing this happen is if Kenny Britt isn’t back in a Rams uniform, and even then the Rams have Stedman Bailey who has put together consistent stretches of good play.

For the first time in a long time, the Rams dont need a wide receiver. They do have a solid corps of guys at the position.

Until free agency is over, mock drafts aren’t as relevant until we get closer to the draft, and you can see why. To think the Rams need a wide receiver, while as of right now it looks like they might, as we get closer to the draft and free agency is over with, most likely the Rams won’t have any questions at the position.
