The St. Louis Rams have been busy over the last 48-hours when it comes to NFL Free Agency. Monday the team released Jake Long and Scott Wells, Tuesday they traded for quarterback Nick Foles, and Wednesday, well they got right back at it.

According to the personal Twitter page of former New York Giants linebacker Jacquian Williams, the linebacker has spoken with the St. Louis Rams and is close to a deal with the team.

Up until suffering a concussion midway through last season Williams lead the New York Giants in tackles and ranked and ranked ranked 24th in NFL. Williams also  graded 18th against among 4-3 outside linebackers against the run.

At only 26 years of age, there is a good chance that at the very least Williams plays special teams, but very likely could take over for Jo-Lonn Dunbar. The former Giants linebacker is athletic, instinctual, and a versatile player.

Williams won’t be an expensive option and is a free agent that could play above his potential contract.  While many teams overpay for free agents, it is usually the lesser name players that end up doing the best for their new teams.

In other free agent news, Falcons offensive lineman, Justin Blalock does plan to visit the Rams according to Jim Thomas, but the Detroit Lions are also involved.

Former Rams cornerback, Cortland Finnegan, also took to Instagram to announce his retirement. Finnegan, to say the least, disappointed in St. Louis and showed his true class act giving a shoutout to former Texans wide receiver, Andre Johnson.
