St. Louis Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs, How to watch and what to expect

The St. Louis Rams take on the Kansas City Chiefs in mere hours with hopes of securing their first win of their preseason. The Rams have put together three lackluster performances against the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. However, the starting offense, even with all of their injuries, have gotten better each time out. Now with the final preseason contest upon us, the decision remains of how to handle a group of starters that still needs more time together, but also attempt to avoid injuries.

More from Rams News

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, St. Louis will play their offense starters on a limited basis. Quarterback Nick Foles is expected to play a couple of series to begin the game. Safe assumption is Foles will give way to newly anointed back up Case Keenum. 2014 starting quarterback Austin Davis could now be looking at his final audition to make a roster he once led onto the field.

The Rams offensive line will see some extended time, and they need it. A line sprinkled with rookies, shuffling of players and positions and mounting penalty issues is in need of all the snaps they can get. The offensive line is flirting with ten sacks allowed and has not proven viable in the run blocking scheme head coach Jeff Fisher is looking to put in place for 2015.

The Kansas City Chiefs are not expected to play many if their starters, and quarterback Alex Smith will not play. Backup quarterback Chase Daniel will be playing the first half, followed by Aaron Murray in the second half according to Adam Teicher of ESPN. Both quarterbacks have a passer rating of over 100 this preseason, so this will still be a test for the St. Louis defense.

The preseason is not about wins and losses, but seeing some significant improvement from the Rams tonight would provide a much needed boost of confidence as they prepare for Week 1 of the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks. The 53-man roster is due Saturday, so let the final audition begin!
