WR Vincent Brown scheduled to work out with St. Louis Rams this week

The St. Louis Rams passing game has not been much to talk about this season, as the Rams passing game has been missing since their week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Quarterback Nick Foles has yet to throw over 200 yards since week 1, and offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti has leaned the Rams offense more to run first. A run first offense is not always a bad tactic with rookie superstar Todd Gurley in the back field, but 3rd and longs have hurt the Rams all season long. The Rams third down success percentage rate is one of the worst in the NFL, because of the passing game not able to perform in key situations.

With all of that in mind, per ESPN’s Adam Caplan via twitter, The St. Louis Rams will schedule a workout with free agent wide receiver Vincent Brown sometime this week. Brown was selected in the third round of the 2011 draft by the San Diego Chargers. So who exactly is this wide receiver you may ask? Well let’s take a look at the free agent wide receiver. Brown opened up his rookie year with the Chargers on a great note, as he hauled in 19 catches for 329 yards along with two touchdowns.

The San Diego State Alumni had high hopes in the 2012 season as possible being one of the Chargers best wide outs, but suffered a broken ankle that would sideline him for most of the season. Brown took the rest of the season off, to rest up his ankle, in hopes of starting 2013 off with a bang. Brown would become of the Chargers best wide outs, as he would record 472 yards on 41 catches. Brown also tacked on a touchdown to end his 2013 season. However during training camp the following year, Brown would deal with calf issues and the Chargers would have to waive the wide out for missing most of training camp.

Brown would get a call from the Oakland Raiders a couple of weeks later, with a one-year contract. Brown would sign his one-year deal with the Raiders and hoped to finally have his breakout season in 2014. That would not be the case for Brown, as he dealt with injuries and could not get on the field. Brown finished the season with 118 receiving yards on 12 catches. Brown would once again hit the free agency, and this time he would get a call from the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts would sign Brown as an unrestricted free agent on March 31, 2015. However Browns new journey with the Colts was short-lived as he would be cut on September 5th 2015. Ever since then, Brown has been a free agent looking for a team to give him a shot.

Could Vincent Brown impress the St. Louis Rams this week in his work out? If Brown were to impress the team, he would probably jump into the depth chart as the 5th or 6th wide receiver. The Rams also have WR Nick Toon on the practice squad as well. Could a new wide receiver be joining the Rams this upcoming week? Stay Tuned.
