To little too late for the St Louis Rams

The St Louis Rams swept the season series against the Seattle Seahawks with a 23-17 win in Seattle, moving to 4-1 in the NFC West. The Rams have finally shown the wins that this team is capable of, but this is simply too late on in the season to be genuinely excited about.

Witnessing the Rams win consistently is pleasing at anytime of the season as Fisher gets back to playing the type of football that he plays best. The Rams were able to run the ball well in Gurely, and play a competent passing attack, with Kenny Britt showing glimpses of brilliance in his 28 yard reception for the touchdown, while burning Richard Sherman down the sideline.

It is clear that Gurley is the centrepiece of this team, in the carry attempts with him almost notching another 100-yard game, against a great running defence. After having recognized this element of Fishers style of football and the talent of this first round running back, the recent success for the Rams is also largely credited to Case Keenum, who was able to move the ball on the pass play nicely, possessing the ability to go long to the receivers for the touchdown.

The football in St Louis is balancing out between the passing game and running game as fans are able to see that this is a team that has more than enough talent to make the playoffs and stay competitive. The 5 game losing streak in the middle of the season completely killed of the Rams’ hopes for a playoff spot, and has taken any real excitement out of these wins late on in the season.

It is clear that if the Rams can fix their consistency throughout the season, that this team is more than ready for the playoffs

These consistency issues were due to poor defensive play, an inefficient running game and most importantly poor quarterback play. Foles was disappointing this season, and Keenum has really demonstrated just how bad he was, with simple passes and quick decisions, Keenum looks the better choice by far right now, however, the decision to pull Foles was made too late.

The question for the Rams now is, where will the Draft be focussed for this football team? The two prominent positions of need are wide receiver and quarterback, and whichever areas Fisher and Snead choose to focus on in the upcoming Draft, may finally fix the inconstancy for the Rams.

Wherever Snead and Fisher choose to focus their attention in next years Draft, the issue of inconsistency must be considered, as this will be the difference between success and failure.
