When you have the NFL‘s worst offense, more times than not, you’re going to play in some ugly games. The Los Angeles Rams certainly did especially games against the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers to name a few.

Sports Illustrated did a top ten list of the NFL’s worst games this season and coming out at number one was the Rams’ 12-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers early in the season. Here’s what SI had to say.

"“The Edward Jones Dome turf catching fire during pregame introductions certainly didn’t do anything to spark either team in this matchup. Todd Gurley only managed nine yards rushing on six attempts in his NFL debut, and Nick Foles was held to just 197 passing yards and no touchdowns. An additional pitfall of this game: Michael Vick had to steer the Steelers into harbor after Ben Roethlisberger was carted off with a knee injury.”"

We should have known this game was going to be ugly as it was delayed for a good amount of time due to the turf catching on fire because of pyrotechnics in player introductions. Unfortunately, it only go worse from there.

Neither team scored a touchdown, Foles had his second of eight straight games without 200 yards passing, and unfortunately feed Todd Gurley the ball every offensive snap hadn’t become a thing yet. This was a very winnable game for the Rams as the defense did their part holding one of the top offenses in the league under 20 points, unfortunately, the offense just couldn’t get going.

While the offense struggled in week two against the Redskins, after scoring 34 against the Seatte Seahawks, that could have been seen as a fluke. This was the first time it really hit that maybe Foles wasn’t the quarterback that the team hoped he would be and maybe this offense was going to struggle all season. Both ended up being the case.

The Rams may have played in a lot of ugly games this season, but at least they were the best of the worst.
