The Los Angeles Rams will be in search for a quarterback this offseason. One of the more popular choices to fill the position is through the draft and North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. Whether or not the Rams will be able to draft Wentz at 15 overall is yet to be determined.

From now until the draft, experts will come out with mock drafts and position rankings. While he doesn’t do a mock draft until the draft, one expert that everybody keeps an eye on is Mike Mayock. Mayock released his first player rankings of the season this week and had Wentz topping out the quarterbacks on his board.

1. Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
2. Jared Goff, California
3. Paxton Lynch, Memphis
4. Connor Cook, Michigan State
5. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State

This doesn’t bode well for Rams fans who want to North Dakota State quarterback to fall. Since the FCS championship game and Senior Bowl, Wentz’ stock has risen to the point where some mocks have him going number two overall to the Cleveland Browns. Sitting at 15, the Rams could be out of the Wentz conversation. They do have two second round picks, but that wouldnt be enough to jump all the way into the top 5.

Another position ranking the Rams might be interested in is wide receiver. Here’s what Mayock has:

1. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
2. Corey Coleman, Baylor
3. Michael Thomas, Ohio State
4. Josh Doctson, TCU
5. Will Fuller, Notre Dame

With little surprise, Treadwell tops out the rankings. Tread well is without a doubt the best wide receiver in what is a pretty weak class. The Rams haven’t had a 1,000 yard receiver since Torry Holt. Treadwell can be the guy on the outside that the Rams need, the only problem is once again, they would need to hope he falls to 15.

This is still early in the process as the NFL Combine has yet to take place. Surely the rankings will change from now until then, however, this is a pretty good starting point. You can see Mayock’s full rankings right here.
