Will the Los Angeles Rams win the upcoming NFL Draft?

With free agency wrapping up and teams focusing on the draft, there is a lot of pressure on the Rams to succeed in Los Angeles. The big LA lights will be on the Rams, who select fifteen in this year’s draft. Most teams who see success and a culture change build through the draft rather than free agency.

While they are one of the teams with a longer playoff drought than the Rams, the Raiders have shown how to successfully rebuild a team. Shedding large contracts, signing low risk veteran free agents, and drafting talented young players. The Rams have done a good job of shedding contracts and having good veteran players; the issue is with drafting.

The fact a consistent Quarterback hasn’t been found since Marc Bulger proves this. If the Rams wish to become formidable NFC West contenders, they simply need to draft better. This draft could be the beginning of a new Rams team.

The options at fifteen play in the favor of the Rams: Receiver, Corner,  Offensive line, and Linebacker will be available at their spot. I believe Laquon Treadwell should be the Rams’ number one priority. A big bodied and psychical receiver is one of the biggest needs for this team.

If the Rams choose to run with Keenum at QB, they need to give him a target that can go get the ball. If Treadwell is not available or the Rams opt to go defense, Reggie Ragland should be the pick. Ragland, who is coming off a National Championship, would be an excellent replacement for James Laurinaitis. Ragland is a very intelligent big hitter.

He struggles as a pass defender but that is a skill that can be taught. Other players that could be at fifteen are William Jackson III, corner from Houston, and Jack Conklin, OT from Michigan State. They would both be good picks but Treadwell or Ragland would be game changers for this Rams team.
