The rookie wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams apparently suffered a quad injury over the weekend at training camp.

With Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt expected to lead the way in the passing game, the competition for playing time at the other wide receiver spots seems wide open for the Los Angeles Rams at this point in training camp. While Jared Goff was the main focus in the 2016 NFL Draft for the Rams, they did spend a fourth-round pick on former South Carolina standout Pharoh Cooper as many believe he has what it takes to make an immediate impact as a rookie.

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, they may just have to be patient with their new wideout recovering from an injury.

Cooper reportedly suffered a quad injury during training camp over the weekend, but the extent of the injury is still unknown at this point.

The fact that Cooper is already dealing with an injury this early in training camp is never a good sign when considering how much competition there is at the wideout position this year behind Austin and Britt. Obviously, Cooper seems to be an early favorite when it comes to earning a roster spot for the upcoming season, but he also realizes that nothing is guaranteed in the NFL–especially when it comes to roster spots.

After catching 17 touchdowns over his final two seasons at South Carolina, it’s easy to see they hype surrounding Cooper. For the sake the Rams, let’s hope this quad injury is only minor and Cooper returns to the field in time to show the team in preseason what he can bring to the table in 2016.
