The news surrounding the Los Angeles Rams signing wide receivers Austin Hill and David Richards comes shortly after hearing about Pharoh Cooper’s quad injury.

NFL training camp for the 2016 season is only a few days old, but there’s already plenty to talk about when it comes to the Los Angeles Rams–whether it involves Tre Mason missing from camp or the quarterback battle between Jared Goff and Case Keenum.

However, the wide receiver position will be one of the most interesting battles to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks as the spots behind Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt appear to be wide open. Los Angeles hopes rookie wide receiver Pharoh Cooper–who was selected in the fourth round of May’s draft–is capable of making an immediate impact, but the former South Carolina star has been dealing with a quad injury over the last couple of days.

As of now, there’s no time table when it comes to Cooper’s return and how serious the injury may be, but it should be noted the team did sign two former University of Arizona stars in Austin Hill and David Richards to make the competition at wideout more interesting.

While Hill bounced around on numerous rosters last year and ended up on the practice squad for the New England Patriots, Richards had previously signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent–which obviously failed to work out.

No player seems to have an early advantage over the other at this point in training camp, but it will certainly be interesting to see what Hill and Richards brings to the wide receiver competition–especially with Cooper’s return still up in the air.
