With a Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Los Angeles Rams currently sit on top of the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks.

For a team that ranked near the bottom of the league in 2015 when it came to offense, the Los Angeles Rams have to be feeling good about their 2-1 start following Sunday’s key road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the victory, the Rams sit atop the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks, but Jeff Fisher‘s squad has the upper hand thanks to a Week 2 win over their division rivals.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Los Angeles was the only team in the NFL without a single touchdown as they were averaging just 4.5 points per game on the season. To see this team record five touchdowns against the Buccaneers on Sunday, there’s a better feeling about what this Rams team is capable of heading into their Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles wasted no time getting the no-touchdown monkey off their back after Case Keenum found Brian Quick for a 44-yard strike on the opening drive against Tampa Bay. From there, the Rams’ offense managed to see Todd Gurley find the end zone twice along with a key 43-yard touchdown catch by Tavon Austin.

Now, the challenge becomes finding a way to make sure the offense plays like this on a weekly basis.

The Rams’ defense was the main reason behind this team’s seven wins in 2015, and while they didn’t look as sharp as they should have against the Buccaneers, they did come up with a big stop on Jameis Winston at the end of the game to help hold on for the win. When looking at the game film from the Week 2 matchup against Seattle, this is what team’s should expect from Los Angeles when it comes to a defensive perspective.

By sitting on top of the NFC West heading into Week 4, the rest of the league is starting to recognize the Rams, but the true test will be whether they can continue this success moving forward. There’s still plenty of time left in this young season as Los Angeles has a long way to go if they’re going to win this division, but it’s good to see this team taking that step in the right direction when it comes to being contenders in the NFC West.
