The Los Angeles Rams won’t have to worry about covering Rob Gronkowski in Week 13 as the tight end is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

As bad as it sounds, the Los Angeles Rams enter Sunday’s Week 13 matchup against the New England Patriots as heavy underdogs when considering the level of talent between these two squads. Even if there’s a good chance this game turns into a blowout for the Patriots, at least the Rams have one less player to worry about in Rob Gronkowski.

The star tight end won’t play against Los Angeles as he’s expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing back surgery for the third time in his career. For a team that was considered one of the favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl, the absence of Gronkowski is a huge loss for New England as this team now faces the challenge of adjusting without their tight end.

The Patriots may have found success before without Gronk in their lineup, but it’s tough to ignore what he brings to the table on a weekly basis when healthy. When looking at his size and strength, it’s sometimes impossible for opponents to defend Gronkowski on offense, and there’s no doubt New England is going to miss him for the remainder of the season, especially Tom Brady.

Of course, just because Gronkowski will miss Sunday doesn’t mean this matchup gets any easier for Los Angeles. Gronkowski may give the Rams’ defense one less thing to worry about, but Brady still has plenty of other weapons capable of having monster days as the Patriots look to continue pushing for that No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture.
