The Atlanta Falcons will face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14 without their star wide receiver Julio Jones.

While the Los Angeles Rams are all but eliminated from the postseason, the Atlanta Falcons need every win they can get over the final four weeks as they’re in a neck-and-neck battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC South title. Unfortunately for the Falcons, it looks like they will have to play without star wide receiver Julio Jones against the Rams.

Atlanta knew there was a possibility they would be forced to play without Jones as the wideout has been dealing with a turf toe injury all week. Jones was originally listed as a game-time decision as Dan Quinn wanted to allow Jones to test the injury prior to the start of the game, but it’s clear the head coach doesn’t feel comfortable enough to let him play.

As frustrating as this decision is from a fantasy football perspective, this is the best move for the Falcons when considering there are plenty of other players capable of stepping it up on offense. Between other players like Taylor Gabriel and Devonta Freeman, Matt Ryan and company should be just fine on offense as they still have an advantage over Los Angeles, even without Jones in the lineup.

While Jones watching from the sidelines gives the Rams’ defense one less player to worry about, this still doesn’t take away from the Falcons’ offense still being just as dangerous. With Jared Goff battling an illness all week, it will be up to the defense of Los Angeles to carry the team in this game.
