There’s a good chance the Los Angeles Rams will be moving on from Kenny Britt and letting the wide receiver hit the free agency market.

Between a new head coach in Sean McVay along with providing more weapons and protection for Jared Goff on offense, the Los Angeles Rams knew their offseason was going to be a busy one, especially when it comes to figuring out what to do with Kenny Britt. The wide receiver is coming off an impressive 2016 campaign in which he became the first player to break the 1,000-yard mark since 2007 when Torry Holt did it after Britt caught 68 passes for 1,002 yards while finding the end zone five times this past season.

When taking all of this into consideration, bringing a wide receiver like Britt back would seem like a no brainer for the Rams, but there are a lot more factors for the team to take in. Not only would the wideout most likely be asking for a hefty payday from Los Angeles after seeing the money they were willing to spend on Tavon Austin, but Britt isn’t getting any younger, as he’s going to turn 29 once next September rolls around.

Only time will tell when it comes to what will happen, but ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez believes “chances are” the Rams will move on from Britt, and McVay will focus on other options to build the offense around. From DeSean Jackson to Kenny Stills, there are plenty of other better options for Los Angeles to consider when it comes to this year’s class of free agents at wide receiver, and despite his success in 2016, a fresh start with a new team may be what’s best for Britt.

As Gonzalez also mentions, it be in Britt’s best interest to sign with a team that doesn’t need to worry about their quarterback developing for another year or two like Goff. Nothing against Los Angeles as a team, but after the offense ranked dead last in the NFL by only averaging 14 points per game, it’s clear Goff still has plenty to work on before this unit seems capable of reaching the next level.

Britt certainly had his moments throughout the 2016 season, but seeing the Rams move on from the wide receiver really wouldn’t be that much of a surprise, would it?
