If the Chicago Bears allow Alshon Jeffery to hit free agency, the Los Angeles Rams need to strongly consider signing the wide receiver for Jared Goff.

After only averaging 14 points per game during the 2016 season, the Los Angeles Rams realize the offense needs plenty of adjustments if they’re going to have any shot at being contenders in the NFC West next year. The team heavily invested in Jared Goff by trading up to acquire the former California star in last year’s draft, and when looking at potential free agent targets, Alshon Jeffery is a name to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks.

Depending on what the Chicago Bears end up doing, Jeffery could become one of the most sought after wide receivers in the free agency market when seeing the type of numbers he’s displayed over his first five seasons. From a financial perspective, it would seem foolish for the Bears to slap Jeffery with the franchise tag for the second year in a row when seeing all of the other team needs they need to focus on, which would obviously work out well for the Rams.

With Kenny Britt most likely on his way out, Los Angeles will need to provide Goff with another weapon, whether it comes through the upcoming draft or free agency. Clearly, Tavon Austin doesn’t seem capable of handling the responsibilities of being a No. 1 wide receiver, and even though Jeffery’s numbers have been down over the last two seasons, keep in mind all of the issues Chicago’s been dealing with at quarterback.

If anything, the production by Jeffery from 2013-14 in which he caught 174 passes for 2,554 yards to go along with 17 touchdowns is the perfect example of what he could bring to the table as a reliable weapon for Goff in the passing game. Of course, the cost of bringing Jeffery on certainly won’t be cheap, but if that’s what it takes to improve the offense, the decision seems like a no brainer for the Rams.
