The Los Angeles Rams won’t have an extra preseason matchup to prepare for after the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys were announced to play in the 2017 Hall of Fame Game.

With Kurt Warner finally making it to Canton after a remarkable career, the Los Angeles Rams seemed like a possibility to be one of the two teams participating in the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame game. Warner spent six years as a member of the Rams when they were still playing in St. Louis, but it looks like the NFL decided to go with the Arizona Cardinals, who the quarterback spent five years with, and Dallas Cowboys instead.

The two teams were announced as participants in this year’s game that is scheduled to take place on August 3 in Canton, Ohio. While the Cardinals have the Warner connection, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Cowboys being the other team that gets to play since team owner Jerry Jones is also part of this year’s class.

As much fun as it would have been to see Los Angeles participate in this year’s game, this could also be considered a blessing in disguise since the team won’t have to worry about playing an extra preseason game. Even if Jared Goff and the rest of the starters most likely wouldn’t have seen much action, it’s still a relief to know the Rams don’t have to worry about the extra pressure of performing in Canton.
