Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Pharoh Cooper showed some love towards his former school on Twitter after South Carolina reached their first Final Four.

In the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams used the 117th pick on wide receiver Pharoh Cooper following an impressive career at South Carolina. On Sunday,Cooper was one of many alumni fired up over watching his former school’s basketball make history after the Gamecocks reached the Final Four for the first time following an impressive Elite 8 win over the Florida Gators.

Prior to Sunday’s big game, Cooper was already making headlines after joking with Steve Spurrier over who he was going to cheer for since he used to be the head coach for both schools. Give Spurrier credit for keeping it neutral by saying he was going to root for the SEC, but at least Cooper was able to enjoy watching South Carolina pull off the thrilling win for a trip to Phoenix.

What makes this story with Cooper even more funny is how one writer came across his tweet to Spurrier, and referred to the wide receiver as a “fan” instead of realizing who he actually was. On the positive note, at least one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game in Michael Irvin knows who Cooper is, and gave the former Gamecock a proper shout out on Twitter.

As for the upcoming season with Cooper in Los Angeles, the team hopes to see more production from their second-year wide receiver after only catching 14 passes in the 10 games he appeared in as a rookie. Between all of the excitement surrounding the changes to the coaching staff under Sean McVay along with Jared Goff hopefully elevating his game to the next level, 2017 could turn out to be a big year for Cooper in the passing game for the Rams.

Keep in mind there’s a reason why Los Angeles was willing to bring Cooper on board during last year’s draft after the wideout caught 135 passes for 2,109 yards with 17 touchdowns during his final two years at South Carolina. If all goes well, the Rams’ offense should show plenty of improvement next season when compared to last year, especially if Cooper finds a way to live up to the hype, and become a reliable target for Goff.
