After winning the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in February, former Los Angeles Rams defensive end Chris Long has agreed to join the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2017 season.

While the Los Angeles Rams failed to make the postseason after only winning four games during the 2016 season, most fans still found it in their hearts to cheer on Chris Long and the New England Patriots in this year’s Super Bowl. And rightfully so when considering the former first-round pick spent the first eight years of his career with the organization during their time in St. Louis.

Releasing Long during the 2016 offseason was no easy task for the Rams when considering all he did for the organization over the years, but at least it worked out for the former Virginia standout now that he’s got a Super Bowl ring after the Patriots thrilling victory over the Atlanta Falcons. However, it looks like the former Ram will be playing for yet another team during the 2017 season after reaching an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a two-year deal.

Many wondered if Long would end up calling it a career and go out as a champion, but it looks like the defensive end isn’t ready to call it quits just yet. Long’s numbers may be down from the last couple of seasons, but the Eagles wouldn’t have agreed to bring him on board if they didn’t strongly believe he wasn’t still capable of making an impact.

Either way, as painful as it sounds, parting ways with Long seemed to turn out well for both parties when looking at the high expectations for Los Angeles on defense with Wade Phillips officially board. But just like when he left for the Patriots, there’s no reason why Rams fans shouldn’t still be happy for Long finding a new home, and what makes it even more exciting is he will get the chance to face his former team in Los Angeles in 2017.
