All eyes will be on whether Aaron Donald shows up for the first day of mandatory minicamp for the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday.

With organized team activities officially done, up next for the Los Angeles Rams will be minicamp that is schedule to begin on Tuesday, which is mandatory for all players. While there are plenty of big stories to focus on ranging from the development of Jared Goff to an improved receiving corps, the main story to focus on will be whether Aaron Donald will be in attendance.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport discussed on Monday how there’s no guarantee that Donald will be present at minicamp for the Rams, as the defensive superstar continues to fight for a new long-term deal from the organization. Even though they weren’t mandatory, Donald’s absence from OTAs over the previous few weeks was already somewhat of a concern for Los Angeles, but not being there on Tuesday takes this situation to a completely different level.

For starters, the last thing Donald wants to do is miss valuable practice time with a new coaching staff now that Wade Phillips is the new defensive coordinator under Sean McVay. Not to mention the longer Los Angeles holds off rewarding Donald for a new deal, the higher the risk of him wanting to play elsewhere down the road.

Defensive talent like Donald is rare in the NFL when considering he recently took home honors for being the No. 1 player on PFF’s list for the upcoming 2017 season, and no matter what it takes, Les Snead needs to make this issue a top priority to fix if he’s not in attendance on Tuesday. Otherwise, this situation with Donald is only going to be a distraction for the Rams, as they look to bounce back from last year’s embarrassing 4-12 record.
