Rams Week 5 opponent is both familiar and beatable

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks have played each other evenly since 2013. Expect more of the same in Week 5 at the Coliseum.

Los Angeles Rams fans have a lot to look forward to in Week 5 as NFC West foe Seattle rolls into the Coliseum. It’s a game that will give the Rams and opportunity to get to 2-3 on the season, and 1-1 in the division.

For LA, that is a picture that isn’t half bad.

The Rams and Seahawks have split their respective season records since 2013, and for the most curious of reasons, Los Angeles plays the NFC West standard bearer pretty evenly.

Look for that continues in 2017.

Last season, Seattle was hampered by injuries, and this offseason has shown internal issues that may or may not have had an effect on the team. That aside, Rams / Seahawks in Week 5 is a game LA can win, especially back home after two games away.

As far things appear to sit in the West, it continues to be Seattle, and everybody else.

But things may be on the verge of shifting, or at the very least, this season may prove that the gap is closing.

I continue to believe that Arizona is the NFC West’s newest cellar dweller. While they’ve gotten old, Los Angeles continues to put one of the NFL’s youngest teams on the field. Factor in wholesale coaching changes in LA and in San Francisco, and the appearance is that the order may be changing.

Last season, Tony Dungy indicated that Seattle was no longer an elite NFL team. In this division, they don’t need to be. But their reign at the top may have an expiration date as changes with the Rams and 49ers continue to develop.

At least that’s the plan in Los Angeles and in San Francisco.

Look for that to begin to show as these two teams battle this season, October 8th in the Coliseum.
