The Los Angeles Rams will practice with the Los Angeles Chargers during training camp on August 9.

After finishing with a 4-12 record last year, expectations are higher for the Los Angeles Rams this time around, as the team hopes to show improvement under first year head coach Sean McVay. Only time will tell when it comes to whether making McVay the youngest coach in NFL history will pay off, but the Rams have to be pleased with how the team has adjusted over the last few months.

From organized team activities to recently wrapping up mandatory minicamp, Los Angeles seems to be in good shape heading into training camp at the end of July, which will be when the true tests begin. While this year’s training camp will be filled plenty of stories to keep an eye on ranging from the progress of Jared Goff to how the defense looks under Wade Phillips, the one date to keep an eye on will be August 9, a day in which the Rams will hold a joint practice with their new city rivals.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been making the transition to their new city after all of those years in San Diego, and even though they will face the Rams during the third week of preseason, it will be fun to watch them take part in a practice beforehand. Similar to their new city rivals, the Chargers are coming off a disappointing season in which they only won five games, and are looking to bounce back under first-year head coach Anthony Lynn.

They may not play in the same conference, but it’s always fun to see a friendly rivalry going on between two teams playing in the same city, and maybe if all goes well this year, the Rams and Chargers will consider having a joint practice each year. Believe it or not, August 9 will be here before Los Angeles fans know it when seeing how fast this offseason has been flying by.
