As of yesterday, some of the St. Louis faithful, us included, were a bit concerned with the amount of started on the roster that were not participating in practice this week. This afternoon, St. Louis can breathe a sign of relief, with Robert Quinn and Scott Wells both returning to practice on the field. They will both be starting against the 49ers unless Quinn experiences some reoccuring concussive symptoms. With Wells back, the starting offensive line should be at full health, or will it…

Barry Richardson was a new addition to the injury report on Friday with a knee issue, and was limited in practice.

— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) November 30, 2012

With Barry Richardson injured, there is a possibility that Wayne Hunter will step in at the right tackle spot. Some had pushed for Hunter to be moved to the right side when Rodger Saffold returned from injury, especially given his, mostly, spectacular play on the blindside.

Amendola was out of his walking boot today, and is listed as questionable on Sunday against the 49ers. However, if last week was any indication, “doubtful” means that Amendola will likely suit up, even if he doesn’t see much field time. Against the Cardinals, he was not seen out of his boot at all throughout the practice week, so that could be a good sign for him playing this week.

Steven Jackson was upgraded to “probable,” meaning that Jackson will be full-go come Sunday. Jackson likely would have still got 24 carries with “questionable” in front of his name, so the heightening in status is a good indication of how he and his foot are feeling.

It seems like the St. Louis Rams injury report has turned into some exclusive club that only the Rams’ best players are allowed to join. Steven Jackson has been “questionable” for nearly the entire season, although it does not seem to have stunted his ability to get in the game and perform. Jackson was out again on Wednesday, but practiced on a limited basis on Thursday, nursing an apparent foot injury. He had that same injury last week before playing the Arizona Cardinals and was able to muster 139 yards rushing, so he should be fine. Not everyone was able to battle through their injuries in the game though…

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/jthom1/status/274257657374863360"]

In the post-game presser, Fisher mentioned that Amendola was held out of the second half with “soreness” from playing on the heel in the first half. Amendola was seen back in his walking boot on Wednesday, and will likely be a “game time” decision, just as he was against the Cardinals. Bradford threw for 2 touchdown passes against the San Francisco 49ers in their last matchup, but that was with Danny Amendola on the field. However, that was also the game that Chris Givens was deactivated for violating team rules, so his presence in the game might be a relatively even trade off should Amendola not be cleared.

Scott Wells has also found himself back on the injury report, nursing a knee injury. After sitting out nearly the entire season recovering from foot surgery, the offensive line looked to have their first “full healthy” squad against the Cardinals. If Wells is unable to play, Rob Turner will likely get moved back to center and Shelley Smith will get the start at left guard. In the previous matchup with the 49ers, Bradford was sacked only twice throughout the entire game. However, both came courtesy of Aldon Smith, and both were counted against Shelley Smith on the interior of the line.

Robert Quinn is also on the list, showing concussive symptoms during practice earlier in the week. There are currently no reports about whether or not he will be clearly to play on Sunday against the 49ers.

For San Francisco, there were 4 players that were either held out or limited at practice. David Akers, who shanked the potentially game winning field goal in overtime against the Rams, was limited a practice on Thursday with an injured pelvis. However, the biggest name on the report is Aldon Smith, who was “limited” with concerns about his shoulder. Smith needs only 1.5 more sacks to overtake Fred Dean’s single season sack record for the San Francisco 49ers.

Even with Smith’s monster season, the San Francisco 49ers have been in the second tier of teams this season in terms of their ability to get to the quarterback. The team currently has 28 sacks on the season (T-11th with Cleveland), meaning that Smith’s 16.5 sacks make up 58.9% of the total team takedowns. If he unable to play, or limited, Bradford could have a similarly nice day passing against the ’9ers on Sunday. Bradford went 26 of 39 passing (66.7%) for 275 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, with a 104.1 QB Rating (without Chris Givens) when Aldon Smith was fully healthy in Week 10.

If the losing streak that started after the Arizona game in Week 5 wasn’t bad enough, there is an injury plague that seems to be “streaking” through the St. Louis Rams roster. Although Scott Wells and Rodger Saffold seem to be a “go” for the game on Sunday, the skill players on the team are falling like flies.

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/jthom1/status/272070458218803200"]

With Amendola out, the St. Louis Rams will likely give Brian Quick and Chris Givens significantly more snaps than they had last week against the New York Jets. It also means that Bradford will likely have to rely more on Lance Kendricks and Steven Jackson out of the backfield, or, at least, they hope…

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/jthom1/status/272071230612463616"]

Jackson is excepted to play, much like he did for most of the season with a “questionable” status. However, losing Kendricks and Amendola could truly be devastating to an offense that was completely stagnate against the New York Jets last Sunday in the Edward Jones Dome. The loss of those key players on offense may be an even bigger deal with the “second wind” of the Arizona Cardinals secondary, which picked off Matt Ryan five time last week. Lucky for the Rams, Lindley will be getting the start at quarterback. Expect a low scoring game…
